Understand product labelling, starting with the ingredient list
Review serving size, ingredients, and other additives before distinguishing label information from promotional copy.

Start with the serving, not the large type on the bottle.
Supplement labels usually state the serving size, key ingredients, and amount per serving. When reading them, first check how many capsules or how much powder a serving contains, then compare the listed values. Do not treat the contents of the entire bottle as one serving. Labelling formats may differ by region, so refer to the official label for the place where the product is sold.
Look beyond the key ingredients.
Capsules, fillers, flavouring ingredients, and allergen information are all worth noting. If you need to avoid a particular ingredient, take the complete label to a doctor or pharmacist for review rather than deciding from the product name alone.
Promotional copy is not complete product information.
Read ingredient information, directions for use, and health-related claims on the packaging separately. Attractive setting images or prominent wording cannot replace final ingredient and suitability information. If you are unsure, obtain a clear product label before deciding.
